Beschreibung

A powerful antioxidant and nootropic, Methylene Blue supports mitochondrial function, cognitive clarity, and cellular energy. Traditionally used in scientific and medical contexts, it’s now gaining popularity for its brain-boosting potential. For research purposes only. Not for human consumption.

i) ✅ Primary Pharmacological Actions of Methylene Blue:

Potential Benefits

  • Cognitive Enhancement – Supports memory, focus, and mental clarity by improving mitochondrial efficiency in brain cells.

  • Neuroprotection – May protect against oxidative stress and support long-term brain health.

  • Cellular Energy – Enhances ATP production, boosting overall cellular function and energy levels.

  • Mood Support – Early research suggests it may have mood-lifting properties by modulating neurotransmitters.

  • Antioxidant Activity – Acts as a potent antioxidant, helping neutralize free radicals.

ii) Methylene Blue Primary Pharmacological Properties

1. Monoamine Oxidase Inhibition (MAO-A & MAO-B)

  • Effect: MB inhibits both MAO-A and MAO-B enzymes.

  • Impact: This leads to increased levels of serotonin, dopamine, norepinephrine, and other monoamines in the brain.

  • Caution: At higher doses, this can increase the risk of serotonin syndrome, especially if combined with SSRIs or other serotonergic agents.

2. Modulation of Nitric Oxide (NO) Pathways

  • MB inhibits nitric oxide synthase (NOS) and guanylate cyclase, reducing nitric oxide signaling.

  • This has effects on vasodilation, inflammation, and may influence mood and cognition indirectly.

3. Cholinergic System

  • There is some evidence suggesting MB may enhance acetylcholine activity by protecting cholinergic neurons and enhancing mitochondrial energy production—but it’s not a direct cholinergic agonist.

iii) Methylene Blue Dosing Overview

  • Nootropic / Cognitive support0.5–2 mg/kg (low dose)Most users stay below 2 mg/kg to avoid MAOI effects.

iv) Important Considerations & Warnings

  • MAOI Activity: At doses ≥2 mg/kg, MB can inhibit MAO-A, increasing serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine—risk of serotonin syndrome if combined with SSRIs, SNRIs, or other serotonergic drugs.

  • Form Matters: Only USP-grade or pharmaceutical-grade MB should be considered for human use. Industrial or aquarium-grade may contain toxic impurities.

  • Bioavailability: Oral MB is absorbed fairly well. Sublingual use can offer quicker onset but isn’t standard.

  • Blue Urine/Stool: Totally normal and harmless—it’s a dye!
